The FIFA/CIES International Programme launches its fifth edition in Puerto Rico
The UPRM/FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sports Management launched its fifth edition at the University of Puerto Rico's College of Business Administration on the Mayagüez campus (UPRM).
During the event, Dr Agustín Rullán Toro, Rector of UPRM, gave a welcome speech to the students, emphasising the importance of professionalisation in the sports sector. In addition, Dr Roberto Seijo Vidal, Dean of the College of Business Administration, reiterated the UPRM's commitment to promoting the academic and practical training of participants.
Dr Marco A. Navarro Viacava, Director of the FIFA/CIES International Programme at Universidad de San Martin de Porres in Lima (Peru), spoke as the keynote speaker. He shared his experience with the audience and highlighted the impact of the FIFA/CIES International Programme on professional development in the sports industry in Latin America and other regions of the world.
He stated: "The future of sport does not depend solely on athletes, but also on decision-makers, designers of structures, protectors of the integrity of competitions and those who understand that sporting success without good management is always short-lived. I believe in well-managed sport, which is fairer, more transparent, more sustainable and more promising for society. Only those who manage their organisations with vision, adequate knowledge and ethical principles succeed in leaving a legacy."
We welcome the new students from Puerto Rico and wish them every success and satisfaction in their future studies.
"CIES, 30 years of impacting how sport is managed worldwide"
