Venezuela: Study day held at the FVF headquarters for students of the UNIMET/FIFA/CIES Programme
Twenty-six students from the 16th cohort of the UNIMET/FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sports Management recently spent a full day at the headquarters of the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol (FVF) as part of their course studies.
This event was part of the partnership signed in 2023 between the Universidad Metropolitana (UNIMET), FVF and CIES to strengthen the professionalisation of football.
During the day, students were able to listen to presentations by various FVF staff and directors from the operational and strategic parts of the organization which is responsible for managing Venezuelan football.
The presentations provided a concrete and practical overview of key issues currently being faced in modern sports management.
The speakers included:
- Víctor Ledezma, Head of Training and Development at CCD-FVF: ‘FVF strategy for the professionalisation of national football: creation of an academic branch’.
- José I. Bencomo (Nacho), Head of Methodology at the FVF Development Department: ‘Development plan and decentralisation of national football’.
- David Quintanilla, FVF Secretary General: ‘Leadership in sports management’.
- Adrián Aguirre, FVF Financial Director: ‘Micro and macroeconomics in football.’
- José Perdomo, FVF Head of Information Security: ‘Data security in football.’
- Óscar Cunto, FVF Second Vice-President: ‘Taxation of football and sports clubs.’
All the students thoroughly enjoyed the day, which took place in the FVF's new premises, where they were able to discover new perspectives and receive valuable additional input to complement their classroom lessons.
Many thanks to FVF, which plays an exemplary role in training, and to the CIES Coordinator in Venezuela for organising this enriching day.
Launched in 2010, the UNIMET/FIFA/CIES International Programme in Sports Management is part of the FIFA/CIES International Network and has already trained more than four hundred sports professionals in Venezuela. It is a magnificent illustration of the collaboration between the academic world and FVF to build the future of Venezuelan football.
